The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Tell It to the Frogs

16 11 2010

No surprise to you readers by now, The Walking Dead continued to impress me with it’s newest episode, ‘Tell It to the Frogs’. The halfway point of AMC’s fledgling series was far lighter on zombie content than the first two episodes, but all of that didn’t matter to me, as the show finally proved what I’ve been raving about all along: This show isn’t just a lot of zombie violence, and it focuses more on the demons of the people than the monsters themselves. In fact, none of the characters have been eaten or bitten by a zombie yet, we’re halfway through Season One, and it’s still the best zombie thing to hit the screens in years. Not too shabby.

Click the jump to read all the best, worst (Which is more like “meh”), and most brutal parts of my favorite show on cable.

[And if you haven’t figured it out by now, yes, this contains spoilers. Don’t whine to me if you haven’t watched this yet.]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Guts

8 11 2010

AMC may have hit the jackpot with its new show, The Walking Dead. After garnering around 5 million viewers on Halloween, the cable network has been trying pretty damn hard to spread the word about it’s new zombie series. They even went as far as putting a countdown for the new episode up on Sunday; I don’t remember if there was a countdown for the pilot, I don’t think that there was one. Considering that this is a show with R-rated gore and other adult situations, that is pretty darn impressive.

But how exactly was the second episode of this new show? If you haven’t already gotten it from the picture above, the newest Walking Dead installment was just as epic as the first, and I have plenty of things to praise and rant on after the jump.

[Yes, there are spoilers. You have been warned.]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Days Gone By

1 11 2010

[Ed notes: Alec has left the site, but we do have the addition of Jackie Land. We’re looking forward to her contributions!]

See kids? The street signs never lie.

Last night, most of the people in America were dressing up as pirates, pumpkins, slutty pirates, and slutty pumpkins. Doorbells were rung, parties were thrown, and the candy and booze flowed freely. For most people it was just another Halloween. But for me? I finally got to watch the premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead. I won’t go into details of exactly how many kids tried to ruin my TV viewing moment, but I will say that they all left my house either in tears or in pain; I’ve never been this excited about a TV show.

Luckily for me and all other TV fans, The Walking Dead did not disappoint me in any way that really mattered. In fact, it was one of the best damn things related to zombies that I’ve ever watched. Well deserving of a top 5 spot on my zombie list from last week. Anyways, follow me after the jump to see the best and worst (The worst is simply nitpicking) of AMC’s newest masterpiece. Some spoilers to follow.

My Top 10 Favorite Pieces of Zombie Media

22 10 2010

From vampires to werewolves, hellish demons to Frank N. Furters Frankensteins, Halloween is chocked full of memorable creatures that always make a few appearances every year in entertainment, be it through books, TV, video games, or movies. Nowadays, though, a lot of Halloween time monsters that used to scare the Holy Water out of me have turned into things that wouldn’t even scare my mother, and that’s saying a lot.

Vampires now sparkle, wear fancy scarves and preach the joys of queefing abstinence. Werewolves have been either delegated to remakes of classics, or to the previously stated Twi-Hard movies as muscular Native American teens. Frankenstein has been MIA for years now (Van Helsing doesn’t count) and that essentially has left one ghoul to take over as top terror. The Zombie.

Personally, I’m just fine with that. While I would love to see some real vampires take the spotlight away from Twilight, and would equally love to see a new serial killer take control away from Jigsaw, at least I’ve had good ol’ zombies to entertain me for the last decade or so. Read after the jump to see my top ten pieces of zombie media after the jump!
