The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead Season Finale: TS-19

6 12 2010

Well, that was fast. The first season of my new favorite show on television, The Walking Dead, flew right on by, and I’m disappointed. Why AMC thought six measly episodes constituted an entire season, I have no clue. In most cases, six hour-long episodes would seem more fitting to an HBO miniseries. That said, after a disappointingly boring episode 5, the zombie canon gave America the season finale it deserved, although I was mere seconds away from losing my sh*t over a certain part of the final few minutes.

There were some epic highs and yawn-inducing lows, but in the end Frank Darabont’s adaptation deserves a good amount of praise. So, without further adieu, my final Walking Dead review is after the jump. MAJOR spoilers after the jump, and too many of my friends haven’t seen this show, so you have been warned.

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Wildfire

30 11 2010

After riding higher and higher for the first five episodes, The Walking Dead reached it’s highest amount of viewers at 5.5 million, which is staggering for a violent zombie drama on a cable network. The only thing is, for a show that recently garnered 5.5 million watchers, it happened to be the first lackluster episode of the new show, in my eyes at least.

It may be because last week’s episode was likely the best thing I’ve watched on television in a very long time, but The Walking Dead finally proved to me that it is human, or perhaps a little too human. Is it time to panic? Hell no. There is one episode left in the first season, the creative minds behind the show will stew over how to make Season 2 even better than the first after that, and not every episode is going to be this bland, I’m sure of it. That said, there are a few disappointing things to discuss after the jump.

[If you hate spoilers, don’t continue…]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Vatos

22 11 2010

If only I knew what ‘Puto’ meant…

Oh God. This is officially the best show on television for me now. I didn’t seem to believe it was possible, but AMC’s newest hit show managed to top itself in almost every way with episode 4. In fact, at least for me, yesterday’s episode was quite possibly the best thing I’ve seen on TV all year. It simply had everything, and while that’s what a lot of people say about Mad Men, well, Mad Men doesn’t have zombies. Click the jump to get a recap of all the great stuff about the best new show on television. I can’t believe there are only two episodes left this season.

[Obligatory spoiler warning: Yes, there are spoilers.]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Tell It to the Frogs

16 11 2010

No surprise to you readers by now, The Walking Dead continued to impress me with it’s newest episode, ‘Tell It to the Frogs’. The halfway point of AMC’s fledgling series was far lighter on zombie content than the first two episodes, but all of that didn’t matter to me, as the show finally proved what I’ve been raving about all along: This show isn’t just a lot of zombie violence, and it focuses more on the demons of the people than the monsters themselves. In fact, none of the characters have been eaten or bitten by a zombie yet, we’re halfway through Season One, and it’s still the best zombie thing to hit the screens in years. Not too shabby.

Click the jump to read all the best, worst (Which is more like “meh”), and most brutal parts of my favorite show on cable.

[And if you haven’t figured it out by now, yes, this contains spoilers. Don’t whine to me if you haven’t watched this yet.]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Guts

8 11 2010

AMC may have hit the jackpot with its new show, The Walking Dead. After garnering around 5 million viewers on Halloween, the cable network has been trying pretty damn hard to spread the word about it’s new zombie series. They even went as far as putting a countdown for the new episode up on Sunday; I don’t remember if there was a countdown for the pilot, I don’t think that there was one. Considering that this is a show with R-rated gore and other adult situations, that is pretty darn impressive.

But how exactly was the second episode of this new show? If you haven’t already gotten it from the picture above, the newest Walking Dead installment was just as epic as the first, and I have plenty of things to praise and rant on after the jump.

[Yes, there are spoilers. You have been warned.]

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of The Walking Dead: Days Gone By

1 11 2010

[Ed notes: Alec has left the site, but we do have the addition of Jackie Land. We’re looking forward to her contributions!]

See kids? The street signs never lie.

Last night, most of the people in America were dressing up as pirates, pumpkins, slutty pirates, and slutty pumpkins. Doorbells were rung, parties were thrown, and the candy and booze flowed freely. For most people it was just another Halloween. But for me? I finally got to watch the premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead. I won’t go into details of exactly how many kids tried to ruin my TV viewing moment, but I will say that they all left my house either in tears or in pain; I’ve never been this excited about a TV show.

Luckily for me and all other TV fans, The Walking Dead did not disappoint me in any way that really mattered. In fact, it was one of the best damn things related to zombies that I’ve ever watched. Well deserving of a top 5 spot on my zombie list from last week. Anyways, follow me after the jump to see the best and worst (The worst is simply nitpicking) of AMC’s newest masterpiece. Some spoilers to follow.

24 10 2010

[It’s Halloween week, and this year the only thing on my mind is THE WALKING DEAD. Combine that with Mizzou’s first win over Oklahoma in more than a decade, and all of my wildest dreams may be coming true. Catch the week ahead after the jump.]
