Let’s Play: A wonderful way to waste your time.

16 01 2011

Everyone loves playing video games. Or at least I do. I assume you do as well, or you wouldn’t be reading this. Or maybe you don’t. In that case, GTFO.

Okay, now that they’re gone. Let’s discuss Let’s Play-ing. Not sure how to verbify that. Anyway. Let’s Plays are essentially a feed of a person playing a video game while they (usually) provide commentary. Now, admittedly, this sounds like the most boring thing ever, and you might be right. Done poorly or by boring people, Let’s Plays can be arduous to sit through. But when done well, they are absolutely hilarious. After the jump are a few to convince you that I am not insane.

My Top 3 Video Game Systems

24 11 2010

If you discuss the illustrious history of video games with a group of people long enough, eventually you’ll get to the greatest debate of them all: Which system is the best of all time? Is it the original powerhouse, the NES? How about the newer systems, which boast outstanding graphics and countless features? What if you factor in the games themselves? Does the N64 get your vote for Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Super Smash Bros, or is the Xbox and Halo your cup of Mountain Dew? In this article, I will rank my favorites from 3-1. Meet me after the jump to agree with me about everything. Read the rest of this entry »

Behind the Geometry: Our Friend Pyramid Head.

21 11 2010

You're probably going to die.

Warning: This post contains violent and disturbing images.

Most gamers, by this point in time, have been acquainted with the friendly antagonist of Silent Hill 2 known as Pyramid Head. Top 4 Games That Make Me Weep. (SPOILERS)

24 10 2010

People weep at novels, poems, movies, deaths, births, songs; you name it. I cry at the plots of video games. Once in awhile a plot comes along or a point in a plot that makes me curl up in the fetal position and wet the ground with my sweet sweet tears. These are those games:

Halloween Suggestions: Day 3

22 10 2010

It’s Day 3 of my Halloween extravaganza! Today we discuss video games. I know I’ve been trying to not showcase well-known things, but screw it, there aren’t that many scary video games. Here we go!

Resident Evil 4

I love this game so, so much. So they changed the camera angles. So they changed the controls scheme. So they added the merchant to buy weapons.

RE4 Merchant

STRAYNJAH

Who cares about all that stuff? It doesn’t matter, because the game is AMAZING. There’s a reason it won every award they make for gaming. Anyway, the scariness. This game scared me when I was like 12, and thus, it still scares me now. Being chased by a man with a burlap sack on his head waving a chainsaw is not something that just becomes normal. It’s got a well-plotted story with far better voice acting than this series deserves, and if you somehow have not played it, you need to.

Chainsaw Squared

YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO SURVIVE MAKE YOUR TIME

[More games after the jump!]
