Video Game Review-Red Faction: Guerrilla.
16 10 2010For me, there is usually not a game I can pick up, and play, at any time, for any reason, after I have beat it a handful of times. Granted, I have only beaten this particular Red Faction once, I still pick it up all the time and play. Let’s begin with the story. You are on Mars (No, there are absolutely no aliens, nor any sort of hint towards aliens), and you are a miner, as is everyone else on the planet. Except for the EDF (The Earth Defense Force). Simply put, these guys are the baddies. They shoot you. In the beginning of the game, you go to collect scrap metal with your brother (scrap metal is a form of currency on Mars. What a great economy, right?), and the EDF come along and kill him in a completely emotionally devoid scene.
I am a very emotional man, but I shed nary a tear for this unheart-wrenching scene. The rest of the game is rather devoid of a good plot, but with a game like this, it is not that necessary. The goal of the game is to defeat the EDF, so Mars is left in the control of the rebel mines, the Red Faction. This is a sand-box game, where you can run or drive to missions, and complete these missions to gain control of certain areas, unlock new weapons, areas, or gain scrap metal. Missions also allow you to raise the morale in a certain area, and decrease EDF control in an area. When morale is high, the rebel forces on Mars are always willing to join your side in a battle against the EDF, no matter how big or how small. When the morale in an area is low, it’s just you out on that battle field, buddy.

A Formal Introduction of Myself.
16 10 2010My name is James Fischer. I enjoy crazy hipster/indie/metal music and will play any type of game. For example, the video games I am currently engaged in are: Final Fantasy (NES), F.E.A.R 2 (PS3), Legend of Zelda 2 (NES), and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap(GBA). Well, that did not display my diverse gaming at all; 2 out of the 4 are Zeldas, I love the Zelda series. If I could marry a series of games, without there being any backlash, or the obvious lack of child bearing capabilities, I would. But I digress; I really do enjoy Zelda. That being said, my favorite video game since I began gaming to this period in my life, would most likely be Okami. Such an amazing game. But a review for that particular game will come later in my series of posts.
I also enjoy reading, and will most likely post a few blogs rating and discusses novels, poems, etc. The other people running this blog tend to loan me a gracious amount of reading material, so I will always have something to discuss in that aspect.
My one true love, over everything that has been mentioned here, must be hipster clothing. I love cardigans, vests, band shirts, etc. I love dressing up classy, and feeling like I am a man of class, when in reality I am a crude and rather terrible person. I hope you enjoy my blogs that will come in the future, as I am sure they will be the Godliest things your puny, peon eyes have ever laid their sights on.
-James.

Classics Review: Troll 2
15 10 2010Chances are good that if you are a frequent viewer of internet videos, then you probably know this scene, perhaps one of the best examples of how to be a bad actor while not noticing the fly on your face in cinema history. The video comes from the cheap horror film Troll 2, which has no trolls, but plenty of vegetarian goblins. Today, Troll 2 has developed a decent cult following thanks to being so bad it’s hilarious. I recently purchased this film at Vintage Stock (For only 10 dollars) and after viewing it, I can say that its unofficial title of “Best Worst Film” (Also the title for a Troll 2 documentary that I now must see) is very well deserved. Troll isn’t just so bad it’s good; it’s so bad that it made me roll out of my chair with laughter.
